Tyler Andrew Lackey (M.F.A. Social Practice) is an artist from Chattanooga, Tennessee, based in Washington D.C., who centers his work on the creation and utilization of sounds to respond to and reclaim the complexities surrounding race and caste, both in the United States and internationally.
Ty is a 2024 OneBeat Fellow with the U.S. Department of Culture and Education; a 2023 Eileen Southern Travel Grant Awardee from the American Musicological Society; and a 2022 GW Research Showcase Awardee in Economics and Organizational Sciences for his “The Transformational and Charismatic Leadership of Malcolm X” looking at the role of incendiary language in social and political movements.
Ty has experience in audience strategy and development, social impact initiatives and policy analysis, image consulting, and personal and brand development.
Ty has served as a Public Relations consultant and specialist for WPP and various subsidiaries, Smoothie King, Manduka, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, The Trombone Shorty Foundation, Life is Good, The George Washington University, and the founder of thinkThin, Lizanne Falsetto.
